site specific installation Cranbrook Art Museum 2008
floor wax, window vinyl, sunlight
The floor surface was stripped to mark the fall of light at midday during installation in April. Throughout the course of the exhibition, as the sun rose higher in the sky, the bands of light grew thinner. The series of seven windows were coated in UV protective film, each bearing a cut-out disc, the series mimicking the arc of the sun as the viewer passed from window to window.
diurnal was an experiment in the interplay of time, light and experience; the celestial and the mundane; and modes of perception inside versus outside the museum.
